If you are searching for the “most popular beaches in Krabi”, you will certainly read about going to Railay and Ao Nang Beach. Don´t get me wrong, these are cool places to visit, but actually quite crowded. And definitely too busy for my taste. If you also prefer the more chilled, hidden and secret beaches, then you should go on with reading now.
Within this article I am going to tell you more into detail about my happy place Klong Muang Beach: A super nice beach located to the north of Ao Nang Beach and far away from the full-on touristic spots. Here you can find the more chilled vibes and the perfect retreat, while enjoying a wonderful beach time with your loved ones. Besides that, Klong Muang Beach is ideal located for being the start location for many different kind of excursions and discovery tours.
Island vibes on Krabi´s mainland
Because Klong Muang Beach is around 20 minutes away from the louder touristic hotspots of Krabi, you could nearly mean, that you are on a lonely island. So absolutely my kind of vibe!
Walking down Klong Muang Beach after you have passed the restaurant and bar strip, you will come to a little island, which is located directly in front of the beach. At high tide you can see some boats driving between the mainland and this small isle (despite research I unfortunately do not know its name…) and at low tide it is super easy to get on the island on foot for a little discovery tour. If you walk right around you can even find a little hidden beach, where was literally nobody when I arrived there. Just the perfect spot for some yoga and meditation on the big dark rocks from where you can have a wonderful view on the rest of the beach.
The ultimate culinary experience with hippie flair
Walking up the beach, you can find just a few bars and restaurants, but these are all super cool locations, where you get incredible delicious cocktails, fruit shakes and Thai food. My second best Mojito in my life (after the one I had in Cuba of course) I have drunken at The Nest Beach Club, where you can chill in some nice beach beds or have a little swim in their pool. What I can also recommend there are the Quesadillas and the Pizza if you want to skip Thai cuisine for one day.
My favorite bar at the beach strip is Mom´s Bar: Super chilled little beach bar with well-performing Wifi, extremely kind service staff, the perfect beach view, great music and tasty food. You must try their chicken wings, fried shrimps and for the desert the fried banana with ice-cream. Good as hell! And during my past weeks here in Thailand, I have met a lot of kind people, but not as friendly as at this place. Wonderful warm-hearted and open-minded people, who were always smiling and trying to get me into a good conversation to show me their honest interest in my lifestyle. In front of the bar is sometimes also a little fire show going on, which is quite cool to watch while having some real good dinner.
Next to this place, you also can find the Sunset Bar: really nice staff there, good Wifi connection and if you need a little snack for in-between they offer you an incredible tasty banana-chocolate shake. Must try!
Feeling like home at Klong Muang Dream House
Directly at Klong Muang Beach and around 200 meters after the Nakamanda Resort, you find the wonderful apartments of Klong Muang Dream House. This guesthouse welcomes you with modern furniture, super comfy king-size beds, good internet connection, air-condition, daily cleaning and laundry service, including breakfast and 2 bottles of water a day. But these are just the main facts about that accommodation. Moreover, you really get the full-service package there.
Alice and Pluto (she is Thai, he is Italian) are the two hosts of the Hotel and super kind and helpful people, who want to create the perfect holiday atmosphere for their guests. This is why their guests have also the possibility to join yoga classes at the beach, guided hiking-tours and several long-tail boat trips to nearby beaches. These activities can be booked to extremely low prices through their associating office Krabi Guide, which is located directly behind the guesthouse.
In my next article, which is coming out very soon, I will tell you a bit more into detail about these tours, starting from Klong Muang Beach. In this following blogpost I will share my tips and impressions with you, which I have got from the longtail boat trips to Railay Beach, Hong Island, Koh Lao La Ding and Paradise Island. If you watch the Youtube video of this article, which you can find at the beginning of this blogpost, you can already see some snippets out of this tour.
